I’ve been repeating for a very long time that the Founders did not intend that we have a “democracy.” Democracy implies majority rule, which inevitably turns into mob rule. We have a “republic” which consists of the rule of law, limited government, and checks and balances throughout.
I found this video through Glenn Beck’s 912 Project site. In just ten minutes it encapsulates what I tried to teach my political science students in a whole semester. It is well worth watching.
