Tom Weins Endorses Ken Buck

In an email to supporters toady, Tom Weins wrote that he was dropping out of the senatorial campaign and lending his support to Ken Buck.

Weins did not participate in the state assembly and was planning to petition on to the ballot. After Ali Hasan, he is the second candidate to announce that he will not pursue the petition route.

It was beginning to look to me as though avoiding the assembly and using the petition process was the thing to do this year in the contested races with Norton, Weins, Stapleton and Gschwentner all announcing they would do it.

The question, of course, is why they would avoid the grassroots party process. I don’t have the answers but I guess we can all try to read the Tea leaves.

The story is reported at KUNC radio in Greeley and the Denver Post blogs.
