Barely two months into the Obama-nation and there is widespread anger, disconent and frustration at where the Left is taking this country. The people are beginning to organize and protest via Tea Parties at a truly grass roots level–all without the aid of ACORN or government funding.

And already, there’s another way to make a statement: There is a special election in NY House District 20.

It is being held to fill a seat vacated when the incumbent was appointed to Hillary Clinton’s vacant senate seat. The Republican candidate, Jim Tedisco, is a proven fiscal conservative. Read more about him at his site.

Better yet, contribute!

You are so right, the way to overcome is for people to vote, and they did, and the failed conservative “leadership” lost. You are a bunch of unhappy sore losers, going through the grief process, and the reason that Obama got elected is the Republicans fault 100%! Without the failed Bush leadership, Obama could never have been elected. It is YOUR failed ideology that has caused this country to have the President we have now, and the change in course we are embarking on. Bush was rejected by the Republicans during the campaign, his name was a toxic asset, and we can’t thank you enough for helping to get Mr. Obama elected. The only thing Bush is good for is a bad example. The Reagan era of deregulation and Union busting and destroying the middle class in America will soon be placed on the ash heap of history. This is America, if you don’t love it, leave it!!

Hit a nerve, did I? I should feel honored that one of you finally found my humble blog. I had toyed with the idea of

simply trashing your reply but since you went to all the trouble to write it at 1am, I thought it would be more

instructive to (as the left says) “deconstruct” it.

have played fair and still won–but fair play is just not in the Marxist playbook.

if you really have been paying attention to the debate, you would understand that it is precisely because the leadership

was not conservative that they lost. Pres. Bush made the mistake of believing he could compromise with the left. They

wanted no part of it. Grammatical note: no need for quotation marks, elected leaders are leaders whether you agree with

their politics or not.

unhappy for sure. I now understand clearly the rage on the left over “the last eight years.” See my previous post.

yup, in nominating another moderate the Republicans really screwed up. Conservative Gov. Palin almost saved the day, but the weight of Soros’ money, a hostile press, and the financial crisis was too much to overcome.

OK, don’t rub it in. But let’s get things straight: First, I am not now, nor have I ever been, a member of the Republican Party. Second, the Republican Party is not an ideological party, an assumption implicit in your sentence. They’re still a “big tent” party. The Democrats used to be, too, but they appear to have been taken over by the Marxists.

It was a gutless, spineless reaction to the drumbeat of criticism from the left. Too bad. He did at least keep us safe since 9/11 and that, after all, is the legitimate purpose of government.

On the contrary, you can. And Obama, Pelosi and Reid are doing their level best to return the favor.

This sentence is a good example of the gratuitous mud-slinging and name-calling that is the hallmark of what the left calls debate.

Several left misconceptions are all bunched together in this one sentence. Clear thinking has never been a hallmark of the left. First, Reagan came into office much like Obama–on the heels of a bad economy. Unlike Obama, however, he made changes that got the government out of the way and gave room for the free market to thrive. It worked. This spendocracy today won’t. Second, Reagan didn’t engage in union-busting (except for the air traffic controllers, who endangered the public safety). The changing economy away from heavy industry and people’s free choices ended union monopoly over labor. Thirdly, the idea that the middle class is destroyed is a fantasy. Two mistakes here. First, the middle class is not (yet) destroyed. Reagan conservatism started the biggest growth of wealth in our nation’s history and the middle class has fully participated in it. Second, the labor unions are not the middle class. People making less than the median family income of $40,000–a key Demorcatic constituency–are not middle class. They’re working class. You know, “Workers unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains!” The fact that we have a thriving middle class makes this Republic work.

If anyone reading teaparty5’s post had any doubts that he is a Marxist, this evocation of Marxist phraseology should remove all doubt.

Indeed it is, and indeed I do, having devoted 26 years to the service of my country. I love it too much to stand by while Marxists try to ruin our finances and turn it into a socialist one-party state.

You toss out the term Marxist with ease, but in fact the ash heap of history quote came from Reagan himself, refering to the Soviet Union. So I can infer that you think Reagan was a Marxist too? Winners lead, that is what Reagan did and Obama is doing. Losers cry, blame the refs or the media, place blame on others, and don’t take responsibility, that’s what it sounds like the Republicans and conservatives are doing. I might have gotten a bit sharp with some of my comments before, and I do appreciate your response back instead of deleting them, but, listen to Rush Limbagh, and the things he says sometimes make “the only thing Bush is good for is a bad example”sound pretty tame. It’s no hallmark of the left to throw out stuff like this, it is the sad state of debate today on both sides, and I am guilty of it too sometimes. It just seems like some are more interested in tossing out buzz words and generally throwing a tantrum than they are in refuting point by point why they are for or against what the President is doing. Offering any solutions seems to be a rare option with the Right nowdays too. More tax cuts and keep doing what we have been doing is not a good option. I don’t think this is a good way to stop the direction of the country if that is what your goal is, but it might make some feel better and enable them to deny ownership of their role in the country being where it is today.

Thanks for your reply. You’re right: too many people flaming the other side have all but ruined debate online.

When Reagan made the ash heap comment, he was quoting Marx. So no, that doesn’t make him a Marxist, just well read. If you’re not either, so much the better and my apologies.

Leaders lead all right–it’s what we expect them to do. But that doesn’t mean they are going in the right direction.

The key is to pick the right direction and the people are doing just that. The politicians have their own agenda and it’s nor ours. To quote Shakespeare, “A pox on both their houses!”

And, no, that doesn’t make me a playwright.

Just last week we got the final result when Jim Tedisco conceded the election. I can’t help wondering how he blew a 20-point lead in the polls, but reading some local commentators, I come up with the following points:

1. All politics is local. Lots of NY politics involved that didn’t necessarily make it to the national stage, such as the fact that Jim doesn’t live in the NY20 district and some liked him right where he was a leader of the NY House.

2. The Democrats put up a Republican-like business candidate.

3. Democrat lawyers descended on the polls like locusts. This is becoming a regular feature of American elections whenever the left thinks thy might lose. Just like any 3d world country.

So no matter what the two major parties say, all politics are local.
